Abstract
Cette écriture fait suite à l’élaboration du Schéma Directeur des Équipements Marchands et Pôles Commerciaux de la ville de Douala (SDEM) réalisée en 2020 au compte de la Communauté Urbaine de Douala. Cette étude est l’une des premières en la matière dans la sous-région Afrique centrale. Elle nous a permis de comprendre les enjeux de développement harmonieux de Douala, poumon économique de cette sous-région. Dans cette présente réflexion, il est question de présenter l’origine des activités commerciale depuis la période coloniale à nos jours, d’établir un cadre analytique de ces équipements disparate sur l’ensemble de l’aire urbaine, et d’établir un ensemble de mesure susceptible d’équilibrer la répartition territoriale de ces derniers à travers l’approche des lieux centraux de Walter Christaller et, en mettant en exergue la new city trading (NCT) traduit par « ville nouvelle marchande » comme plateforme d’innovation économique pour la ville de Douala.
