El virus de SARS-COV2 tuvo un impacto importante en la economía mexicana. Debido al alto número de contagios producidos por la pandemia, el gobierno se vio en la necesidad de tomar ciertas medidas que limitaran la propagación de esta. Entre los sectores afectados por las medidas se encontraron las industrias de las bebidas y el tabaco, las cuales ya venían siendo perjudicadas por medidas gubernamentales que tenían como objetivo disminuir el consumo de estos productos, por los problemas de salud que genera en la población. A raíz de esto, surge la pregunta de qué efectos trajo para estas industrias tales medidas durante el año de pandemia en el país. A través de un modelo autorregresivo, se encontró que el PIB sectorial durante el año 2020 fue menor que el pronosticado por el modelo, evidenciando el impacto en la disminución del consumo. El mayor impacto fue durante el segundo trimestre, y la recuperación presentada durante el tercer trimestre no fue suficiente para igualar el PIB sectorial que venían presentando ambas industrias en años anteriores
