Abstract
La danse hip-hop est historiquement une pratique de jeunes hommes des quartiers populaires urbains, qui la mobilisent comme un support d’« émancipation » devant les injustices sociales vécues. La présente étude analyse les rapports sociaux et les processus de socialisation à l’œuvre en danse hip-hop autogérée. Elle s’inscrit dans une perspective théorique articulant rapports sociaux de genre, de classe et de racisation. L’enquête a été réalisée à partir de six entretiens biographiques et de six mois d’observations ethnographiques dans deux lieux de danse autogérée dans une métropole française. Les résultats révèlent les effets ambivalents des processus de socialisation en danse hip-hop autogérée. D’un côté, elle est perçue par les danseurs et les danseuses comme une activité libératrice dans laquelle ils résistent aux expériences quotidiennes du racisme ou du sexisme, ou des deux à la fois. Toutefois, en même temps, par les dispositions physiques et morales viriles qu’elle requiert et des interactions qu’elle induit, la danse hip-hop participe de manière paradoxale à la reproduction des normes et des rapports sociaux de sexe, de classe et de racisation.
