Abstract
Cet article examine les stratégies mobilisées lors du choix de l’école secondaire par des parents dans le marché scolaire montréalais. Mobilisant une sociologie compréhensive et un cadre d’analyse articulant les facteurs microsociologiques et macrosociologiques, il se penche sur l’orchestration des stratégies d’accès, telle que réalisée par des parents, et à partir de quels ancrages celle-ci est élaborée. S’appuyant sur cinquante-sept entretiens semi-dirigés, l’article illustre la mobilisation de différentes ressources et stratégies afin d’atténuer les limites et contraintes établies par le marché scolaire montréalais. Les parents dotés de capitaux culturels, économiques et sociaux ont une certaine aisance à mobiliser les structures à leur avantage, à déjouer les contraintes, à comprendre le marché scolaire montréalais et à se l’approprier, soulevant un enjeu relatif à l’équité devant les options. Quelques parents moins dotés en capitaux établissent aussi des stratégies d’accès, indiquant de possibles phénomènes de mobilité sociale ascendante à travers le choix.
