Cet article montre l’importance des représentations de la femme dans l’économie générale du roman sentimental d’Afrique francophone. Plus précisément, il met en évidence la visibilité des textes de romance à partir du lien entre le personnage féminin et la femme africaine dans son rapport à la société contemporaine. Il s’agit, d’une part, d’identifier une écriture de la femme dans quelques œuvres de la collection adoras, en faisant découvrir le statut socioprofessionnel des lectrices-autrices pour déceler l’influence mutuelle entre la femme dans la fiction romancée et son référent féminin d’Afrique francophone. D’autre part, l’article présente les différentes réappropriations du roman sentimental. Ainsi, ces représentations de la femme permettent de fidéliser un lectorat féminin qui, par sa pratique de lecture et d’écriture, donne une certaine légitimité à des textes qui sont souvent rangés dans la marge de la littérature canonique.
