O eixo central de Estudos de Onomástica Galega VIII é a relación da onomástica coa literatura popular, que foi transmitida oralmente durante xeracións, en épocas en que a lingua galega estaba vetada nos textos escritos. O uso dos nomes é significativo para entender a nosa idiosincrasia tamén en canto á comunicación, á complicidade ou aos sobreentendidos que nos unen como pobo. Os topónimos e os nomes de persoa no cancioneiro son o foco dos dous primeiros relatorios, a cargo de Domingo Blanco e Xosé Miranda Ruíz. Antonio Reigosa Carreiras céntrase na onomástica do conto galego de tradición oral e Elena Freire Paz na relación entre a onomástica e a antropoloxía en Galicia. A cantora, improvisadora e filóloga Alba María comparte a súa experiencia co alumnado de secundaria centrándose nas posibilidades que dá o emprego da onomástica nas improvisacións, un xénero moi vivo na nosa literatura oral. Todos eles neste volume queren abrir novas perspectivas de estudo da ciencia onomástica a aspectos pouco analizados entre nós, xerar debate científico e divulgar e normalizar os nomes propios persoais e de lugar.
