Abstract
Sa participation au projet de résidence Photographie et Territoire du Centre régional de la photographie Hauts-de-France (Douchy-les-Mines) a conduit le photographe Marc Pataut à réaliser principalement des portraits : ceux de trois habitantes de cette municipalité devenues ses modèles trois années durant, entre 2008 et 2011. Sur base de l’analyse du livre Humaine, issu de cette résidence artistique, nous nous proposons de vérifier l’hypothèse selon laquelle le genre du portrait offre ici une représentation métaphorique du territoire. Elle est développée en prenant en compte, successivement, le processus créatif de Marc Pataut dans le contexte de ce projet, la structure complexe du livre renvoyant au travail mené par l’artiste dans le temps long en relation avec ses modèles, le rapport entre expérience du territoire et expérience du corps et enfin l’intégration de ce genre spécifique au sein du genre du portrait de pays.
