Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The main goal of this research is to develop equations which can be used for predicting the cyclic response of steel beam-column connections with superelastic Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) bolts and steel angles. Finite-element (FE) models are developed to simulate the cyclic behavior of SMA connections. The results are then validated against seven specimens from a previous experimental study. The validated models are used to perform sensitivity and response surface studies. Beam web slenderness ratio, SMA bolt diameter, and angle thickness are identified as the most significant factors affecting the cyclic response of SMA connections. Angle yielding is also found to be the dominant limit state in all connections, confirming their robust self-centering response. It is recommended to use beams of lower depth to minimize residual deformations and avoid early bolt fracture in these connections. The developed surrogate models can be used to accurately predict the SMA connections’ cyclic response.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
