La question de la dégradation des sols fait l’objet depuis quelques décennies d’une attention particulière. En raison de l’augmentation des surfaces imperméabilisées, de travaux de terrassement ou de remblayage, de la dispersion et de l’infiltration de substances polluantes, du prélèvement de matière organique ou de la transformation d’espaces naturels, agricoles ou forestiers en faveur d’autres usages (habitat, activités, transports, loisirs), les sols souffrent en effet d’une dégradation importante et continue. Le déploiement de politiques ciblées de protection des sols est néanmoins encore largement insuffisant, comme le met en évidence cette étude qui se focalise plus spécifiquement sur les politiques conduites en Suisse.
