La Conquête comme marqueur identitaire chez les intellectuels indépendantistes, 1960-1970

Abstract
Au début des années 1960, certains intellectuels indépendantistes du Québec articulent leur discours autour de l’anticolonialisme britannique, prenant à partie les symboles du pouvoir. Ils nourrissent leur option politique des concepts d’historiens néonationalistes. Inversement, ces derniers font une lecture de l’événement qui est au service de ce projet politique. Comme le souligne Pierre Vadeboncoeur dans La ligne du risque, trois dates servent à expliquer la situation québécoise : 1763 1 , 1837-1838 et 1867. Cet article s’attarde au fondement de la rupture identitaire : la Conquête. Nous aborderons la question à partir des textes d’auteurs, tels Jacques Ferron, Pierre Vadeboncoeur et Jean Bouthillette, ainsi que de la revue Parti pris. Nous chercherons à comprendre quels historiens les influencent et ce qu’ils retiennent des faits à 200 ans de distance.
