Abstract
Cet article propose, à partir du concept de racisme au quotidien, une analyse de l’expérience vécue par des élèves et de leurs interactions avec des membres du personnel enseignant. Il revient d’abord sur une recherche sur le climat interculturel d’écoles secondaires québécoises, notamment les enjeux qu’elle a fait émerger concernant l’occultation du racisme en éducation, en cohérence avec la perspective adoptée par un grand nombre de travaux québécois abordant l’expérience scolaire des élèves issus de l’immigration. Pour ce faire, nous nous appuyons sur les travaux de Philomena Essed qui définit le racisme au quotidien à travers les trois forces que sont la problématisation, la marginalisation et le containment. L’objectif de cette contribution est de rendre visible l’expérience du racisme des élèves et la façon dont elle traverse les propos du personnel enseignant à partir d’une analyse secondaire par questionnement analytique des données de la recherche primaire. Nous dégageons trois configurations du racisme au quotidien, créées par le jeu des forces, qui permettent de mieux comprendre l’expérience scolaire des élèves. Des réflexions sur la participation de la recherche au déni, voire au camouflage, du racisme à l’école québécoise concluent l’article.
