Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

man Imagination from the Middle Ages to the Twenty-First Century in 2012, we lingered to catch our breath, ponder the difficulties and rewards of the completed ascent, and enjoy the expansive summit views. Soon, however, it became clear that there were other, even higher and more remote mountains beckoning our attention. After deliberating approaches, routes, and equipment, we gathered a core group of seasoned mountaineers from the previous ascent, as well as some new cohorts. Thanks to the relentless enthusiasm, effort, and stamina of our expedition team, we are proud to deliver Mountains of the German Mind: Translations from Gessner to Messner, 1541Messner, -2009. . Our team was able to assemble on two different occasions: first at the Thinking Mountains Interdisciplinary Summit in Banff, Canada, in 2018; and again at the 2019 German Studies Association Conference in Portland, Oregon. We wish to thank these venues as well as the panelists who discussed joint objectives, strategies, and visions.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
