Abstract
Au xviiie siècle, près d’un siècle après les autres colonies, la milice de Guyane se construit sous l’influence des modèles américains antérieurs. Cependant, l’appareil législatif reproduisant celui d’espaces insulaires, qui s’avèrent plus largement et anciennement peuplés, demande des aménagements. La milice guyanaise peine à s’enraciner durant la première partie du xviiie siècle, et s’établit ensuite plus solidement entre spécificités locales et harmonisation avec les autres colonies, notamment avec l’intégration des libres de couleur. L’influence des territoires français d’Amérique est perceptible aussi dans son encadrement. L’étude de ses officiers, issus des Antilles, de Nouvelle-France ou encore d’Acadie met en effet en évidence le poids des circulations entre les Amériques françaises dans l’institution et la société guyanaise.
