Abstract
This paper explores the regulations of homeopathy in Ontario, arguing that stricter governmental controls are needed to provide consumers with proper information in order to protect them from ineffective medical practices. Regarded as pseudoscience by the scientific community, homeopathy nonetheless has a large following, especially among individuals who have been let down by established healthcare systems. Ontario is the only province in Canada to regulate homeopaths, which provides more protection for consumers but also gives more credibility to the practice. There are significant gaps in communicating information about the practice, such as on practitioner websites and product packaging. Lawsuits and media investigations have argued that consumers are being dangerously misled; in line with this argument, I state that further regulations on homeopathy are necessary.
