Depuis une dizaine d’années, on a lu ses papiers dans Le Figaro et Valeurs actuelles , on a écouté ses chroniques sur Europe 1 et on l’a vu débattre sur CNews. S’il se présente comme « sociologue » et héritier de Raymond Aron, Mathieu Bock-Côté est avant tout un éditorialiste qui évolue dans le sillage d’Éric Zemmour et flatte l’extrême droite à longueur de plateaux, de ce côté-ci de l’Atlantique comme dans son Québec natal. Pourfendeur du « wokisme », l’essayiste martèle un discours hostile au multiculturalisme et s’emploie à alerter son auditoire face à ce qu’il identifie comme un nouveau totalitarisme en marche. S’érigeant en véritable sentinelle antitotalitaire, Mathieu Bock-Côté ne cesse d’inverser le sens des dominations à coups d’euphémismes et de comparaisons bancales, loin d’un travail de recherche sérieux qu’il revendique et de l’aura intellectuelle dont il se nimbe.
