Est-ce que l’arrivée de Bernardo Arévalo comme président de Guatemala va ouvrir la porte à une certaine reconnaissance de la place des Mayas et des autres peuples indigènes dans l’avenir politique et économique du pays? Cet article montre que depuis le milieu du 20e siècle les Mayas ont entamé plusieurs démarches pour mieux organiser leur peuple et pour présenter leurs demandes aux gouvernements successives. Mais, tous ces démanches ont été bloqués régulièrement par l’oligarchie néolibéral qui contrôle les institutions du pays. Est-ce que Arévalo peut faire mieux?
