Penelitian ini ingin mengurai kehidupan masyarakat Komunitas Adat Terpencil dengan melihat kekuatan modal social mereka, Peneliti melihat modal social sebagai sumber kekuatan masyarakat Adat Terpencil dapat menjadi wadah dalam mengatur untuk kepentingan bersama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus dengan teknik pengumpulan data utama adalah wawancara mendalam. Selain itu, peneliti juga menggunakan teknik pengumpulan observasi dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori modal social Putnam sebagai pisau analisis. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa masyarakat komunitas adat terpencil memiliki modal social yakni kepercayaan, jaringan dan norma. Pada kepercayaan masyarakat berusaha membangun kepercayaan antar masyarakat karena merasa merupakan satu kesatuan yang tentunya di dukung dengan jaringan yang dibangun dengan kerabat dekat. Mereka lebih memilih untuk berkomunikasi atau berjejaring dengan orang-orang yang sudah dikenal karena memudahkan mereka dalam bekerjasama. Terakhir norma yang dibangun yakni ada kesepakatan timbal balik antar masyarakat, yakni untuk saling membantuk yang dikenal dengan sistim huyula.
