O Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente prevê o acolhimento institucional como medida protetiva para adolescentes e crianças que tiveram seus direitos ameaçados ou violados pela família, pela sociedade ou pelo Estado. Assegurando-lhes assim, por lei ou por outros meios, todas as oportunidades e facilidades, a fim de lhes facultar o desenvolvimento físico, mental, moral, espiritual e social, em condições de liberdade e de dignidade. Este trabalho tem como objetivo abordar essas crianças, residentes em acolhimento institucional na Casa da Acolhida no município de Patos de Minas, no âmbito da saúde visual, auditiva, nutricional, além da avaliação do cartão de vacina; buscando melhorar as condições de vida das crianças envolvidas através de intervenções adequadas, com ações de prevenção de doenças e promoção de saúde.
