Abstract
Книжка Наталії Кононенко написана в рамках проєкту, що передбачав дослідження ритуальних форм життя українців, які мешкають у Преріях Канади (Sancturary project). Це підсумок десятилітньої польової праці (2008–2018). Н. Кононенко разом із колегами щоліта присвячувала один місяць (червень) спілкуванню зі своїми інформантами. У монографії є розділи про українське весілля, про обрядовість, що освячує народження і смерть, про cакральні об’єкти (церкву і цвинтар) та календарні свята (Різдво і Великдень). Спостерігаючи за життям людей крізь призму обрядової культури, авторка розмірковує над тим, як саме ритуали формують громадську солідарність. Однак стрижнем праці, що побачила світ під час повномасштабної російсько-української війни, є роздуми про українську ідентичність. Книжка Наталії Кононенко про українську ідентичність спонукає до переосмислення тих процесів, що забезпечили її збереження в середовищі українців Канади.
