Abstract
Artykuł koncentruje się na Delcie czasu – ostatnim z prozatorskich tomów Floriana Śmiei – poety-emigranta, który zmarł w 2019 roku w Mississauga w Kanadzie. Śmieja znany jest przede wszystkim ze swej twórczości poetyckiej, translatorskiej i krytycznoliterackiej. Twórczość prozatorska tego autora jest rzadziej poddawana analizie i interpretacji, a jest ona równie ciekawa jak poezja. Delta czasu, wydana przez Bibliotekę Śląską w 2018 roku, to zbiór tekstów trudnych do jednoznacznego zakwalifikowania gatunkowego. Miesza się tu m.in. forma pamiętnika, dokumentu, reportażu, eseju, felietonu, szkicu, recenzji, ale też autobiografii i liryki. Prezentowana w tomie imponująca panorama wydarzeń (począwszy od narodzin w Kończycach w 1925 roku aż po spotkania „ostatnie”), miejsc (np. Zabrze, Londyn, Toronto, Mexico City, Monachium) i postaci (np. Czesław Miłosz, Al Purdy, Anna Janko, Zdzisław Najder, Bogdan Czaykowski) tworzy mozaikę historii XX i XXI wieku, opowiedzianą rzetelnie i z poszanowaniem obiektywizmu, lecz także z dużą dozą humoru, autoironii i subiektywnych sądów.
