Pourvue d’une grande cohérence, l’oeuvre poétique de Madeleine Gagnon s’élabore à la faveur d’une gravitation autour de quelques motifs fondateurs et structurants, tels que l’eau et les pierres. Alors que sa démarche poétique est polarisée par la figure de la mère, Paul Chanel Malenfant fait l’hypothèse que la pierre y convoquerait le père. Pour être juste, cette hypothèse ne mesure pas l’importance que le motif revêt sur le plan formel, alors qu’il travaille, module, voire transforme la poétique. Cet article propose d’observer comment, de Pensées du poème à Rêve de pierre , l’écriture des pierres permet d’articuler lecture et écriture, pensée abstraite et tellurisme de l’expérience-femme, et de donner voix à un sujet qui transcende les catégories du féminin et du masculin en renversant les rapports de filiation.
