Abstract
Ce texte examine la pénurie d’enseignants au Québec selon une perspective sociohistorique. Il montre que la pénurie actuelle s’enracine dans des phénomènes à la fois démographiques, sociaux, politiques et structurels qui ont marqué l’évolution du marché du travail, du personnel enseignant et de son travail depuis les années 1950-1970. Ultimement, le texte interroge l’attractivité de la profession et sa capacité de rétention dans l’état actuel des choses.
