Abstract
La scolarisation des jeunes migrants en France s’accompagne de leur catégorisation en tant qu’élève « allophone » présentant des « besoins éducatifs particuliers » vis-à-vis de leur apprentissage de la langue française. Issue d’une catégorie d’action publique, l’« allophonie » est mobilisée par les enseignants du secondaire pour réifier des figures de l’étranger, réunissant les conditions d’une stigmatisation qui dépasse le cadre scolaire. Face à la catégorisation dont ils font l’objet, les jeunes migrants scolarisés mettent en place des stratégies d’adaptation par le discours, leur permettant de mettre en cohérence les produits de leurs socialisations antérieures avec la réalité de leur immigration. Toutefois, ces jeunes sont inégalement dotés en ressources pour construire leur identité narrative : à la suite de leurs enseignants, ils s’approprient et retraduisent cette catégorie selon des modalités diverses, plus ou moins légitimes. Leurs récits donnent alors à voir divers effets du processus migratoire sur la construction identitaire, influençant notamment leur rapport à la vie en France.
