Abstract
A careful bleeding history is a critical component in the evaluation of a patient suspected of having von Willebrand disease (VWD). There are many challenges facing both patients and clinicians in the accurate assessment of bleeding symptoms. Bleeding assessment tools have been developed and provide a standardized framework to take and interpret the bleeding history. These tools have been validated as effective screening tools for the diagnosis of VWD and for describing the severity of bleeding in an individual.
