Taking a closer look at Osiek, a village located a few kilometers from the former Auschwitz-Birkenaucamp complex, and the city of Oświęcim, allows for a description and analysis of complexand convoluted situations of people who live in the vicinity of places of memory. Andrzej Kacorzyk’sstory of his father’s life, published in 2022 provides an interesting insight into the multilayered relationsbetween neighbours and neighbourhoods in this area.
