NEW TECHNOLOGIES IN DISTRIBUTED FIBER SENSORS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The distributed optical fiber sensors are unique among all the other sensing techniques with the ability to monitor temperature, vibration, strain, and acoustic waves in a distributed way along the entire fiber length. Distributed sensor provides a continuous spatial profile of the measuring parameter at every location along the structures where the optical fibers are attached to the infrastructure. This chapter provides introduction to distributed sensing. It discusses the theory and working principle of spontaneous Rayleigh, Brillouin, and Raman scattering, and their mechanisms for measuring strain and temperature. The chapter illustrates Rayleigh scattering-based optical time domain reflectometry, its system performance, and applications. It also discusses Brillouin scattering-based distributed sensors, which have been intensely studied for the last 20 years, resulting in the most successful commercially available distributed measurement systems, with crucial applications in several fields, particularly in the monitoring of large civil engineering structures.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
