Abstract
Cet article propose une première exploration d’un genre de musique électronique relativement anonyme : le dungeon synth. Il connaît un certain essor en ligne depuis le milieu des années 2010, notamment via YouTube et Bandcamp. Historiquement proche du black metal, le dungeon synth semble avoir acquis au fil des années une autonomie en tant que genre. Il se distingue par une utilisation quasi-exclusive de synthétiseurs et un fort attrait pour un imaginaire médiévaliste et fantasy. Nous tâcherons de comprendre en quoi cet imaginaire est constitutif de l’identité de ce genre musical en l’observant à travers certains de ses éléments phonographiques et paraphonographiques.
