Les faillites de banques* régionales américaines et celle de Crédit Suisse sur le continent européen au printemps 2023, puis partout la chute immobilière, ont-elles été les premières secousses d’un prochain grand séisme financier ? L’avenir dira si les réformes post-2008 auront ou non suffi pour l’éviter. Le retour de l’inflation a conduit les banques centrales à relever le prix de l’argent. Pour les banques dont le métier est d’en faire le commerce, ce n’est pas forcément une mauvaise nouvelle, mais cela signifie aussi pour elles moins de liquidités* disponibles, moins d’emprunteurs solvables et une dévalorisation des titres qu’elles détiennent. Bien que l’inflation reflue (à l’heure où nous écrivons ces lignes), les prix vont probablement rester volatils. Dans un tel contexte, les banques auront-elles les moyens de financer la transition écologique ?
