Abstract
O texto analisa da perspectiva semiótica um fenômeno estético e midiático de nosso tempo que ocupa muitas horas do consumo televisivo e da internet: a oferta crescente de signos indiciais, os mais próximos do corpo e os menos controláveis pela vontade humana. O suor semiótico dos sintomas emocionais é apreciado como uma janela fisiológica capaz de revelar o mais autêntico humano. Nos exemplos estudados, o efeito estético e semiótico do chamamento indicial (index appeal) é produzido pelas lágrimas no ato midiático da confissão de pessoas anônimas e famosas, como uma via preferida para revelar os segredos da alma no século 21.
