Abstract
Resumen : Esta contribución estudia los indigenismos propios del francés canadiense. Primero, se hará una \nbreve exposición de lo que es el francés canadiense; después, se explicará quiénes son los indígenas de Canadá, \nque, en dicho país, se suelen evocar bajo el nombre de “autóctonos” o, colectivamente, “Primeras Naciones” \n(pero antiguamente se solía decir también indios, esquimales y mestizos – o sea, en francés, indiens, \nesquimaux y métis). Una sección especial se dedicará al caso de una falsa etimología que remonta al siglo XVIII, \npero que ha tenido repercusiones a nivel mundial, la de esquimau. A continuación, se presentarán las varias \ncategorías de indigenismos del francés canadiense, primero, los nombres propios – topónimos y etnónimos \n– y, después, los préstamos léxicos (en los campos de la fauna, la flora, la alimentación y la indumentaria). La \ncontribución explorará también el caso de los indigenismos que pasaron a través del inglés norteamericano, así \ncomo un caso muy especial de calco semántico (el de de valeur con el sentido de “lamentable”).
