La profondeur de champ peut être définie comme la zone de tolérance où l’œil ne peut pas faire la différence entre le flou et le net. Autrement dit, elle n’est autre qu’un espace flou qui est vu net. La mise au point, qui a une fonction essentielle au cinéma, est donc tout autant un enjeu de perception que de technologies de prise de vues. Dans le cadre de cette publication, les conséquences théoriques et pratiques d’un tel constat seront explorées tant du point de vue des chercheurs que de celui des praticiens. Les enjeux liés aux conditions de la prise de vues seront étudiés en relation avec la mesure de la profondeur de champ et les aspects esthétiques associés à ces variables techniques et perceptives.
