Abstract
Jean-Marc Piotte, un des cinq fondateurs de la revue «Parti pris» en 1963, a enseigné la science politique à l'UQAM pendant plus de trente ans.Il a publié de nombreux ouvrages sur Gramsci, sur la théorie marxiste, sur le syndicalisme et sur la société québécoise.En 2008, il rédigeait un émouvant récit autobiographique intitulé «Un certain espoir» (Les Éditions Logiques).L'automne dernier, dans «Démocratie des urnes et démocratie de la rue» (Québec Amérique), il nous livrait, toujours d'un point de vue personnel, son opinion sur plusieurs problèmes d'actualité: la démocratie, la culture, l'université, les intellectuels, la charte de la laïcité.Le fait que plusieurs des chapitres du livre soient des articles déjà publiés dans des revues nuit un peu à la fluidité de l'ensemble qui ne débouche pas non plus sur une conclusion un peu synthétique.Je voudrais insister ici sur deux questions soulevées qui m'ont semblé particulièrement importantes pour éclairer la pensée de Piotte.
