Widia Larivière est une Anicinabe de la communauté de Timiskaming en Abitibi-Témiscamingue qui a grandi à Québec. Depuis 2009, elle est coordonnatrice jeunesse à Femmes autochtones du Québec. Diplômée en Études internationales et langues modernes de l’Université Laval et en Immigration et relations interethniques de l’UQAM, cette militante féministe et entrepreneure sociale travaille depuis plusieurs années en faveur des droits des peuples autochtones pour améliorer la situation des jeunes et des femmes. Avec Melissa Mollen Dupuis, elle est à l’origine de la mobilisation québécoise du mouvement Idle No More. En tant qu’apprentie cinéaste au Wapikoni, elle a coréalisé les courts-métrages : Un nouveau souffle et Où sont tes plumes ? Elle a contribué à des ouvrages, notamment Les femmes changent la lutte, Sœurs volées : enquête sur un féminicide au Canada et Onze brefs essais contre l’austérité. Elle vient de cofonder un organisme, Mikana. Elle est l’une des lauréates de la Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse pour les 40 ans de la charte québécoise des droits et libertés de la personne.
