Le ngondo dans la construction et l’animation de l’ordre politique au Cameroun

Abstract
Parmi les nombreuses assemblées traditionnelles qui animent la vie sociale, politique et culturelle au Cameroun, le ngondo occupe une place de choix. Jadis instance juridictionnelle redoutable au sein de la communauté sawa, cette assemblée traditionnelle a su construire une aura politique au gré des contextes historiques et en fonction du rapport de force et des fenêtres d’opportunité qui s’offraient à elle. La présente contribution rend compte de cette entreprise de démarcation sociopolitique du ngondo en tant qu’assemblée traditionnelle. En s’appuyant sur une approche historique, l’auteur démontre que l’aura du ngondo dans l’ordre politique contemporain s’est construite grâce à la résilience dont a fait preuve cette assemblée traditionnelle. Cette résilience a été mise à contribution pour conforter sa vocation à défendre et à promouvoir les intérêts du peuple sawa et, à travers lui, ceux des populations camerounaises.
