Abstract
Mathieu Bock-Côté s’est imposé comme un intellectuel incontournable dans les débats au Québec et en France. Partisan d’un retour du conservatisme, il ne laisse personne indifférent. Il a fait l’objet d’analyses et de critiques, mais celles-ci restent souvent sommaires ou polémiques, et rarement approfondies. Le pari intellectuel sur lequel repose cet ouvrage est non seulement de mieux comprendre la pensée de Mathieu Bock-Côté, mais aussi de la situer à l’intérieur d’un courant composé d’une nouvelle génération d’intellectuels qui a pris son essor après le référendum de 1995. Nous verrons que ces intellectuels s’inscrivent dans ce que nous proposons d’appeler le courant des conservateurs contestataires. Ces derniers s’opposent au multiculturalisme et au politiquement correct, tout comme ils sont en désaccord avec l’évolution du mouvement souverainiste. Il s’agit de comprendre les idées qui animent la pensée de ces intellectuels, dont Mathieu Bock-Côté est le représentant le plus connu, qui s’expriment abondamment dans les grands médias québécois et français.
