Dans cet article, l’auteur propose un survol historique des différents changements ayant eu lieu à la Maison St-Jacques en ce qui a trait à son approche thérapeutique. La manière par laquelle elle est arrivée à la consolidation de son approche analytique groupale actuelle est brièvement exposée. Un questionnement sur la place qu’occupe actuellement la Maison St-Jacques dans le milieu communautaire est soulevé, notamment en lien avec les récents développements propres au mouvement Action communautaire autonome (ACA) qui secoue certaines assises identitaires chez les organismes qui en font partie. Bien que les mouvements collectifs comme l’ACA cherchent à renforcer l’autonomie de pratique des organismes qui adhèrent à ses principes, la perte d’individualité inhérente à tout mouvement collectif est discutée. Une réflexion ouvrant sur l’avenir de l’identité et de l’autonomie d’intervention de la Maison St-Jacques est offerte en conclusion.
