Abstract
Dans le cadre du 50e anniversaire de la Maison St-Jacques (MSJ), l’équipe d’intervenants est allée à la rencontre de dix anciens participants des groupes de psychothérapie afin de recueillir des témoignages de leur expérience par le biais d’entretiens semi-structurés. Le discours des participants a été analysé en s’inspirant de l’analyse thématique propre à la recherche qualitative. Prendre sa place au sein d’un groupe, sorte de « microcosme de la société », semble avoir permis une meilleure connaissance de soi et une plus grande tolérance aux périodes de souffrance. La confrontation aux autres participants, dans leurs vécus et façons d’être, fut rapportée par la plupart des participants comme ayant été un des aspects significatifs de leur expérience et qui les a amenés à remettre en question des parties d’eux-mêmes auparavant laissées dans l’ombre. En somme, l’expérience rapportée par les participants éclaire sur la valeur du dispositif groupal de la MSJ.
