Abstract
Cold spray is a solid-state coating deposition technique that has emerged in the recent decades as a promising technique with constantly expanding areas of applications that are not solely limited to coatings. The cold spray process forms unique material microstructures, leading to attractive advantages that are difficult to achieve with other conventional manufacturing techniques, such as enhanced mechanical properties, minimal oxide inclusion, and the mitigation of undesired phase transformations. The current and potential applications of cold spray for various material systems are discussed and summarized in this chapter, including surface enhancement, additive manufacturing, and surface restoration.
