Abstract
Aquest article t per objectiu investigar les dimensions de la formaci humana i el paper de la instituci educativa a les novelles escolars centreeuropees de principis del segle XX. La primera part va encaminada a fonamentar la literatura, i en concret, les novelles de formaci, com a eina de recerca pel pensament pedaggic i la histria de l'educaci. Es tracta d'un treball de metodologia qualitativa i hermenutica, basada en l'anlisi de tres novelles, els relats de les quals tenen lloc en el marc del sistema educatiu del Segon Imperi Alemany i de l'Imperi Austrohongars. La mostra de les novelles escollides est conformada per Sota la roda, de Hermann Hesse (1906), El jove Trless, de Robert Musil (1906) i L'alumne Gerber, de Friedrich Torberg (1929). S'hi identifiquen cinc dimensions de la formaci humana: intellectual, corporal, espiritual-creativa, tica i interpersonal. Es constata que hi ha una crtica a la instituci educativa per part dels autors, que va dirigida a denunciar la falta de preocupaci pel benestar i la salut dels alumnes, aix com a evidenciar la funci de l'escola de formar ciutadans obedients. L'article conclou amb la defensa de la literatura com un llenguatge possible a partir del qual explicar, analitzar i pensar fenmens pedaggics, i alhora planteja algunes consideracions sobre el carcter multidimensional de la formaci humana.
