Abstract
Las PYMES son una parte importante de la economía de México en términos de creación de empleo y del producto interno bruto (PIB). Por lo tanto, es esencial comprender mejor cómo se crean y desarrollan las PYME para construir una economía más fuerte. El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar las motivaciones de los emprendedores mexicanos, los factores de éxito que valoran y los obstáculos que enfrentan. Para lograr esto, esta investigación identificó y analizó los motivos emprendedores, los factores de éxito y los obstáculos experimentados por una muestra de 278 emprendedores en el México urbano. Los resultados muestran que los emprendedores en México están motivados principalmente por objetivos económicos, ya que cuatro de los seis objetivos principales identificados por los propietarios de empresas eran extrínsecos. En términos de factores de éxito, los empresarios mexicanos prefieren aquellos relacionados con las características personales y del producto/servicio, mientras que las dificultades relacionadas con encontrar personal confiable, así como las debilidades del entorno económico mexicano, fueron los principales obstáculos por parte de los encuestados.
