Abstract
Cet article vise à éclairer une part évidente mais invisible du travail des clown·es à l’hôpital : le travail de gestion des émotions. Ce type de travail doit leur permettre de rester créatif·ves tout au long de la journée, quels que soient les services et les situations. De fait, l’hôpital n’est pas un lieu de travail « naturel » pour des clown·es, et iels doivent se confronter à une série de situations qui peuvent être plus ou moins déstabilisantes. Comment les clown·es parviennent-iels à faire leur métier à l’hôpital? Comment travaillent-iels avec les émotions? Quelles stratégies mettent-iels en place pour assurer leur endurance émotionnelle et « tenir » dans la profession? D’inspiration interactionniste, l’analyse s’intéresse aussi bien au rôle de l’organisation du travail dans la régulation des émotions, qu’au travail émotionnel que ces artistes accomplissent en actes, dans son déroulement quotidien à l’hôpital. En s’intéressant de près aux spécificités de leur activité, l’article ouvre de nouvelles pistes pour penser les différentes façons d’utiliser les émotions au service de chaque prestation.
