Este artículo argumenta que existe en Chile un proceso específi co de cons-trucción social de la memoria, que, en un contexto institucional adverso, no solo ema-na de las agrupaciones especializadas, sino que también de una apropiación social de los temas de la memoria y de los derechos humanos por parte de diversos movimientos sociales. Mediante un análisis plurisemiótico del discurso, realizado a partir de un ma-terial de consignas de manifestaciones y entrevistas a defensores de derechos humanos, se analizan diferentes ejes de construcción social de la memoria, cuya expresión pública –en las calles– culmina con el estallido de 2019. Este análisis permite demostrar que la construcción social de memoria en Chile debe ser califi cada como contrahegemónica por su cuestionamiento al modelo chileno postdictatorial en su conjunto, al provocar un cambio de la lengua política característica de la postdictadura y su narrativa de acusación a las víctimas, la cual asociaba el conflicto social a la ruptura democrática y defendía la amnistía como condición de la reconciliación y de la estabilidad del llama-do modelo chileno.
