Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Within academia in Canada, a research assistant is typically selected from top-performing university students hand-picked by professors to work on their projects. These relationships usually have a top-down structure, with professors having specific goals in mind and tasks that the research assistants are hired to perform. SPECTRUM (Social Policy Evaluation Collaborative Team Research at Universities in Manitoba) is a research collaborative in Manitoba, Canada, that considers graduate student Fellows as equal partners. A proactively developed work-life balance is an integral part of the SPECTRUM Fellowship that enables Fellows to feel comfortable with setting boundaries where they need them to maintain a work-life balance and to cope with the emotions that come with doing social policy research. Through e-mail prompts, SPECTRUM&s;s current cohort of Fellows will describe how a mentorship model grounded in experiential learning, mutual respect, and non-hierarchal leadership enables them to proactively achieve balance and wellbeing in their lives.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
