Kebutuhan akan listrik telah menjadi salah satu hal penting bagi masyarakat saat ini. Lebih dari 88% dari sumber energi listrik berasal dari bahan bakar fosil. Pemanfaatan sumber energi yang tidak dapat diperbarui menyebabkan konsekuensi buruk bagi lingkungan. Untuk menanggulangi masalah tersebut serta mengurangi beban listrik PLN yang meningkat, penting untuk mengembangkan teknologi energi terbarukan yang bersifat ramah lingkungan. Memanfaatkan energi matahari melalui pembangunan pembangkit listrik tenaga surya (PLTS) adalah langkah yang sesuai untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pokok akan listrik. Balai Kampung Wamfoura memiliki luas atap yang cukup besar dan memiliki potensi iradiasi/intensitas sinar matahari sebesar 4,648 kWh/m2/day menurut data Global Solar Atlas. Kampung Wamfoura memiliki masalah yaitu hanya teraliri listrik PLN dari pukul 6 sore hingga pukul 6 pagi. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dilakukan penelitian ini untuk merencanakan PLTS off-grid pada Gedung Balai Kampung Wamfoura. Untuk memenuhi konsumsi listrik harian Balai Kampung Wamfoura yaitu sebesar 9,952 kWh/hari dibutuhkan 14 panel surya dengan kapasitas 380 Wp, 24 buah baterai dengan kapasitas 296 Ah, dan 2 inverter dengan kapasitas 4000 W. Simulasi PVSyst menghasilkan 3632.5 kWh per tahun dengan performance ratio 35%. Dengan hasil produksi energi listrik tersebut maka dapat memenuhi konsumsi listrik harian Balai Kampung Wamfoura.
