Abstract
C' est avec grand intérêt que j'ai suivi la démarche de Frédéric Parent, du début de ses études doctorales en sociologie à l'Université de Montréal jusqu'à la soutenance de sa thèse en 2009.J'ai découvert un jeune chercheur doté d'une exceptionnelle culture sociologique, d'une intelligence vive, à l' esprit critique, et qui avait une véritable passion pour la sociologie du Québec, en particulier celle du Québec rural.Cette passion l'a amené à découvrir la « tradition » des enquêtes monographiques et ethnographiques au Québec qui remonte à Léon Gérin , le premier sociologue canadien 1 , et à réaliser, pour sa thèse de doctorat, une vraie enquête sur le terrain intensif -un fieldwork comme disent les Américains -auprès d'une petite collectivité en milieu rural.
