O modo de vida nas metrópoles e a influência na saúde mental dos habitantes: um olhar a partir das ciências sociais

Abstract
A vida moderna nas metrópoles é capaz de gerar certos efeitos e consequências psicológicas nos indivíduos que dividem os espaços das cidades. A maioria dessas consequências é negativa para a saúde mental dos indivíduos, e, para defender-se, os habitantes metropolitanos são levados a adotar uma série de comportamentos. O tipo metropolitano é caracterizado por uma personalidade intelectualizada, calculista, reservada, onde existe a predominância do intelecto sobre as emoções. Esse estudo teve como objetivo conhecer, a partir das obras de alguns autores clássicos das Ciências Sociais, como o modo de vida nas metrópoles influencia na saúde mental de seus habitantes. Foi realizada uma busca na literatura científica sobre as obras de autores que abordavam sobre a temática; posteriormente, uma leitura crítica do material selecionado e, a seguir, a análise dos resultados. Foi possível identificar que existem vários fatores envolvidos nesse contexto e que os estudiosos sobre o assunto identificam em contextos específicos, como o convívio do homem nas metrópoles implica em transformações significativas na sua vida pessoal, social, psicológica, cultural e emocional. Dentre essas transformações temos aquelas relacionadas à saúde mental, que podem gerar diversos problemas e sofrimentos na vida desse indivíduo e afetar o seu convívio na sociedade.
