Présumée polygame, elle risque de perdre la garde de ses enfants. Louise Chartier de Lotbinière s’enfuit avec son amant et se voit vouée aux gémonies 1 par ses anciennes amies. Ces exemples illustrent comment les moeurs féminines jouent un rôle dans le maintien des rapports de domination genrée au sein de la noblesse canadienne au tournant du XIXe siècle et permettent d’en étudier les mécanismes pendant la transition interempire.
