Abstract
Le présent article entend faire dialoguer le livre de piété du 16e siècle intitulé L’imitation de Jésus-Christ avec « Le torrent » d’Anne Hébert et le Journal de Saint-Denys Garneau. Si l’imaginaire des deux cousins se rencontre dans leurs oeuvres respectives, l’utilisation de L’imitation chez l’un et chez l’autre des deux écrivains pourrait bien conduire à un point de rupture, où la dissonance existentielle relèverait d’une esthétique de la « coïncidence des contraires », pour reprendre l’expression de Georges Bataille.
