Abstract
Le Landgraben trace une ligne fictive, une frontière intérieure, entre la Haute-Alsace et la Basse-Alsace. Cette ligne de séparation correspond certes à une réalité historique, mais dont le tracé et la conception ont varié dans le temps. La même racine Land renvoie aux termes de landgraviat, de Landvogt, de Landweibel… Ces désignations font l’objet d’interrogations et d’exposés qui les présentent comme des éléments intrinsèques à l’histoire de l’Alsace, renvoyant à toute la région ou seulement à une partie de son territoire. Y aurait-il, dans la réalité historique autant que dans l’imaginaire collectif d’érudits, deux Alsaces, celle du Nord et celle du Sud, un patriotisme de la petite patrie régionale et un autre de la patrie locale ?
