Abstract
It is optimistic to see The Lancet Global Health advocating for rare diseases globally in 2024.1 Each year, Feb 29 marks Rare Disease Day, a call to action for millions of people worldwide. However, in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), access to essential resources, information, and care remains severely restricted, exacerbating the unexplored burden of patients with rare diseases and their families.1,2 The goal of equipping all primary health centres with the infrastructure and training needed to manage most rare diseases might not be feasible, particularly in LMICs.
